Our Damage Policy

Sunrise Movers

Sunrise Movers' damage policy is as follows:

  • All claims must be made within 72 hours of the move.
  • Sunrise Movers handles all damages on a repair or replace basis, depending on the contract option you select. 
  • Declared value of $0.060 per pound per article. There is no charge for this option.
  • Full replacement value is based on a minimum declared value of at least $250.00.
  • ***Carrier will apply depreciation under this option. The charge of this option will be $40.00 per $1,000.00 of valuation. Maximum of (10) furniture items.
  • Exclusions:
  • Furniture composed of particleboard or pressboard
  • Items found broken in boxes not packed by Sunrise Movers
  • Mechanical condition of electronic, audio/visual, computer or battery operated equipment in transit or storage
  • Previously damaged or repaired items
  • Previously damaged or loose veneer
  • Furniture with original glue dried out
  • Any loose item or items not boxed
  • Plants (live, artificial, or dried)
  • Or any of the following that is not packed by Sunrise Movers: glass, marble, vases or statues. If one item in a set is damaged, only that one item is covered by insurance, not the whole set


Sunrise Movers does not handle repairs and replacements in house; the customer must file a claim and Sunrise Movers will reimburse you according to the receipts for repairs and replacements.


All damage claims must be repaired or replaced within 90 days of making the claim. After 90 days, Sunrise Movers is no longer obligated to our repair and replace policy.
